Joan and Madame Mope

John calls Jane, Joan (Yikes, try saying that 20 times real fast) in my edition, too. Right after he calls her Madame Mope. I don't get the Joan thing. I think he calls Jane "Madame Mope" because he thinks she's moping. If I had to live with Aunt Reed and her rotten children, I would mope, too.
