Why elope?

Plus, it says that Henry "flirted" before, and never eloped, so why now. It still does not make sense.

Heat of the moment? JA's showing us that Henry would not change? (Note, I did not say "COULD not change, merely would not--I'm still Crawfordite enough to hope.) ;-)
