I read it about 20-25 years ago and my memories are pretty vague. I think there are 2 basic relationships in the book, one ends thumbs up and one ends thumbs down. (oh wait, was that Anna Karenina?). I could be totally wrong. I read it
only once, and I have to read things several times before they stick with me. If you decide to read it, please, please, post about it. I'd love to hear your comments.

There was a movie made of it in the 70's, too. It was well done and quite close to the book.
