Yes, he didn't know she was listening,....BUT there is no doubt that he cared no more for her at that moment than he did any other stranger there. That is exactly the way Henry felt about Fanny at first. She was first just a face surrounding blood and a brain. Then like with Darcy the heroine became a prize. Than a burden. Then a joy....THERE ARE CONNECTIONS
