] ] Is anyone here a fan of Georgette Heyer?
] ] ] If not, I would really advise her books. They are mainly set in the same time period ans JA, and are quite wonderfully funny. Venetia, Sylvester, Devil's Cub and The Unknown Ajax are especially great!
] ] ] So, anyone here likes her?
] ] I love Georgette Heyer for a fast fun read! I love all the ones you mentioned, plus False Colours, The Nonesuch, and The Reluctant Widow are other favorites! I would really like to read and discuss The Devils Cub or Sylvester together
] False Colors is one of my favorites also
] What about Faro's Daughter-it's got to have the best hero-heroine matches.
] And do you like These Old Shades or Friday's Child?
] I better stop or I'll go on forever.
] And I totally love the discussion idea. How can we arrange it?
I've adored Georgette Heyer for more years than I care to mention. Favorites are Cotillion, Friday's Child, and These Old Shades. (On the last-mentioned: Yes, the 18th century books are a trifle harder to get the rhythm of, but this is such a cracking story that it's worth the effort.)
A discussion would give me a great excuse to re-read these gems, but they do seem rather lightwieght compared to the books that are currently slated. I'm new here, though. If anyone else is game, I'm on!
