It's a bit off topic but as a confirmed B'ite I often think that if Fanny had married Crawford she would have ended up like Helen Graham in "Tennant of Wildfell Hall" - a husband with nil inner resources who scoffed at her quiet seriousness etc.

(I think Edmund would have ended up like George Wickham's father - "always poor from the extravagances of his wife"!!)
