] If it was really meant to be the way the Crawfordites want, wouldn't Austen have done it herself? Austen was obviously a Bertramite herself. And, being the author, and completely sober at the time :), does she not have all the right in the world to write what she wants to? As long as Austen didn't write a sequel to change everything, the Crawforites are stuck with their dreams.
I'm an Austenite--Cassandra Austen, who thought that her sister Jane should have our dear Henry end up with dear Fanny. But Jane wouldn't do it. (more's the pity!)
