I think Emma's prospects for happiness without Mr. K. are very bleak indeed, as she begins to realize when she thinks it's possible he could marry Harriet. Check out Chapter 47 (V3,c12), especially the last four paragraphs or so.
This is a BIG contrast to her discussion with Harriet about how she would never marry.
