Whataguy! When he'd said he'd rather fetch sticks than dance, he still rescues damsels in distress, and that is truly joyful music--it may be the most purely joyful moment in the movie.
Notice than Emma touches Harriet in happiness in this scene, which sets up the touching that Emma and Knightley do in the next dance.
Have you ever wondered why we don't see Jane Fairfax dancing at the ball?
