] When they actually start the dance, he puts his arm around her waist. This beyond cool. It's probably also beyond being out of character and out of century, but it adds SOOOO much to this scene for me. It's the real moment when they begin to join, become aware of each other on a physical level. Emma knows it too--you can see it in her face and the uncertainty of her expression. Knightley looks so composed and satisfied with himself that it worked, that she's aware of him physically. And he's really enjoying himself. I LOVE this interaction.

It's not like I'm going to add much to this disucssion by totally agreeing with you guys, but I have to! The ball scene (from beginning to end) is probably my favorite scene in the movie...well, one of them anyway. I watch it a million times for every time I watch the movie. The facial expressions are awesome and it's the first time in the movie I get that happy feeling that they are falling in love. I love that scene!!
