Whilst listening to the midi file of the music from Emma and Mr. Knightley's dance, something occurred to me. I had not realized how pivotal this dance scene is until I heard the music apart from the film.

Unlike the other dancing music heard to this point, the "Maggot" dance (haha) is much more subdued, graceful and dare I say "adult" in terms of tone. This is the first time we truly see Emma and Mr. K taking part in a "couple" activity. The looks he sends her during the dance further prove he's truly beginning to see her as an equal and not as a child any longer. This is serious stuff! Even before they start do dance, he makes the "Brother and sister! No, no..." remark.

Ah well, just some thoughts. Thanks for letting me natter!
