Am I the only one who likes the 1972 version of EMMA
better than the newer versions? The characters are so
well portrayed. Emma's father would drive most people
to run screaming from the house with his fussy crochets. Miss Bates is perfect - and Mr. Knightley could not be better cast. He (John Carson) truly looks to be 16 years older than Emma, but that in no way diminishes his attractiveness. I saw him Monday night on A&E in Agatha Christie's Poirot 'An Incredible Theft' and was captivated with his presence all over again. And, oh yes, Doran Godwin as Emma was completely believable. I'm on my way now to fish out my video to watch it again for the umpteenth time.
