the "I love John! I hate John!" scene in the Weston's garden. Yuck! Where on earth did they conceive of this piece of trash? It almost seems to be (after seeing the trailers) that they threw it in for the sake of promoting the movie. However, I do like the part just before it where Emma confesses her feelings to Mrs. Weston. It is the "John" discussion that I must FF thru every time!

Seeing as the line is used out of context in the trailer, I'd blame the postproduction staff for 1) ignorance, and 2) trying too hard to be cute. Mr. Knightley is not John. He's George. Emma WAS indeed babbling on to Mrs. Weston about John Knightley, but as most viewers who haven't read the book will have very little idea of who John is or how he would relate to any decision by George re: marrying Harriet, the lines lose their meaning and their humor.

Blame Miramax. The same idiots who didn't want Northam were probably the same ones who okayed the trailer.
And my least favorite scene: Emma3 -MS: "I held you in my arms when you were this old..." Or MS: "HE WENT TO LONDON TO CUT HIS HAIR"-outburst in front of Emma and Mr. Woodhouse. Mr. Knightley would never have acted so viciously-he is too much of a gentleman.
