I really enjoyed both new versions of Emma -- although Emma3 is my favorite. Both JN and MS showed pain and disappointment, albeit in different ways. JN's face is very expressive, and I agree with what you wrote above. MS's voice (at the Box Hill scene) was incredibly moving, however, especially on the Badly done, indeed! It sounded as if he were on the verge of tears -- afraid that Emma was lost to him, and afraid of the passion he felt.

I haven't decided which proposal scene I prefer -- JN's face showing the pain, and his mumbled very well before he heads off OR MS's pained expression as he lowers his eyes with just one quick glance back at Emma.

What a treat it is to have two wonderful adaptations of Emma. And what Mr Knightley says about Emma I can say about each of these actors -- I love to look at him!
