] Interesting you bring this up, as I just watched "Clueless" again last night, after having watched "Emma2" about 10 times recently. I have to say that I did see a lot of similarities in the mannerisms of the characters, but that's where it ends. I thought that Rudd's Josh never really appeared to be *that* interested in Cher. Only two occasions that I can think of really stand out: When Christian comes to pick her up. And when he sees her at the dance.

] Northam's wonderful talent of acting with his facial expressions gave his Mr. Knightley more opportunity to express his "affection" for Emma. There were so many times in "Emma2" when the look on Mr. Knightley's face said it all. There are many times when you think.. hmmm maybe he likes her! Emma and Knightley have an easiness about their conversations that Cher and Josh lacked.

Northram's performance was more three-dimensional, more nuanced. But then again the movie clueless was a 90s satire of not only Emma but teenagers in California. So I think with the material to work with Paul Rudd did well.

And out of all the story/character parallels between the two films, Josh carried on the spirit of Mr. Knightley most effectively. Their similarities are the most easy to spot. So I guess I have to say bravo to both actors who stand out in their respective films.

I REALLY like both Paul Rudd and Jeremy Northram. You always find a big smile plastered on my face whenever either of them shows up on screen ;)
