] I saw clueless first just about a week before seeing Emma2. I was struck with how much Paul Rudd's performance as Josh (clueless' version of the Knightley character) is similar to Jeremy Northram's performance as Mr. Knightley. I thought the two actors even were similar looking types of men.
] Paul Rudd was easily the most like his counterpart vs. any of the other clueless characters. The way he talked and scolded cher sometimes was exactly like how Mr. Knightly would have said it.
] I thought Paul Rudd did a great job in clueless. What do you think?
Interesting you bring this up, as I just watched "Clueless" again last night, after having watched "Emma2" about 10 times recently. I have to say that I did see a lot of similarities in the mannerisms of the characters, but that's where it ends. I thought that Rudd's Josh never really appeared to be *that* interested in Cher. Only two occasions that I can think of really stand out: When Christian comes to pick her up. And when he sees her at the dance.
Northam's wonderful talent of acting with his facial expressions gave his Mr. Knightley more opportunity to express his "affection" for Emma. There were so many times in "Emma2" when the look on Mr. Knightley's face said it all. There are many times when you think.. hmmm maybe he likes her! Emma and Knightley have an easiness about their conversations that Cher and Josh lacked.
