] Methinks I detect a note of jealousy here! Actually, my first impression of JN was less than positive. I didn't think he was all that good-looking, but the farther into the movie I got, the more he grew on me. By the end of the movie, I couldn't think of anyone more suited for the role.
jj, you think i'm jealous because you can't see me, and therefore don't know that i have very little reason to be jealous of jn; indeed, HE should be jealous of me. ;-). but seriously, sarah2 hit it on the head when she asked for an "objective" opinion. a man(who isn't drooling in his popcorn) might more easily separate jn's portrayal of knightley from his "dishy" looks. like i said before, i wasn't really paying close attention to jn, but from what i remember after 4 viewings, he seemed very, very, good. but ja's novels portray VERY lifelike characters to me, and i just wonder if emma2 didn't try to write jn's knightley to take advantage of jn's charms, thereby missing ja's original target a little bit(excuse the archery pun); i.e., did ja have a knightley in mind that had a few more rough edges? i also haven't seen jn in anything else, so i don't have a contrasting character to compare to his knightley.
