] Does it irritate anyone that Emma2 is quite different from the book in certain places? I personally thought it was a great movie, I loved the casting, the way it was filmed, the humour, Jeremy Northam ;-), but the only thing that really annoyed me was the distance in some parts from the book. Comments, anyone?

I think what bothered me more was what was left out of it (well, actually Frank Churchill's hair was the WORST thing about the movie). I would really have loved there to be more development of the Frank and Jane characters because if you hadn't read the book I think Mr. Knightley thinking he was a scoundrel and the whole way it shook out (for Frank and Jane) are sort of incoherent. And, although Mrs. Elton really did steal her scenes, I would have liked for them to include more interplay between her and Mr. Knightley. The whole idea of Jane Fairfax being stressed out at the end was completely eliminated. And, finally, what teh &$%# was going on in their minds when they filmed the gypsy scene? There are a lot of things I would have done differently, no matter how much I loved the movie.
Having said that, I must say that I LOVED the movie and would watch it any day of the week. It has a hold on me like no other movie I've ever watched. Jeremy is magic as Mr. Knightley and I loved Gwyneth as Emma (I know there's some debate as to her effectiveness, but I thought she was perfect). Despite its' imperfections, I truly loved this flick.
