] How about following the book? :-) The harvest supper has really grown on me over time, but I'm still a purist.

Given ideal circumstances, I would be a purist too, however, there were time constraints which we must accept, and it would be impossible (in my opinion) for them to have sufficiently ended it as the book did, with as little time as they had. One could argue that perhaps they didn't have to take so long with some things earlier in the movie, but I think that most of the things were not able to be cut and still preserve the exquisite story line.
