] This is an excellent explaination for why none of the sequels to Austen's work are any good.

________

Which ones have you read? I've only read "Presumption" and "Eliza's Daughter." I thought both of them were pretty bad but I'm probably being unfair to the authors. I think it would be tremendously difficult to duplicate JA's brilliance (although I've always wished I could). I always pick up anything that claims to be a JA wannabe (proving that the marketing ploy is, indeed, an effective one) but I always get disappointed by the sequels. The only two I've read seem to think that using a phrase or two of hers is the same thing as adopting her style. I've not seen it done with any degree of perfection anywhere. Are there sequels out there that are decent?
