I'm new here--first post ever.

Hi.

Just wondering--we all seem so vicious in our support or hatred of the two Emma versions...

Don't let us - me and Cass especially, I'm afraid - frighten you away. The fact is, most of us are good friends who actually appreciate all of the adaptations - we just have our pet versions, which we defend to the last. I think it's also important to note that we all spend time in realms of alternative reality every once in awhile. In the span of a few days, for example, I have seen Jeremy Northam's Knightley described as too obviously in love with Emma from the beginning (Virtview Board) and simultaneously (here, in your post) not in love enough (I've said the same of Mark Strong). So, you see it is a hopeless case! ;-)

I guess the point is to quit arguing and just start bantering on good-naturedly, in Batesian fashion!
