This morning I was able to watch Emma3 without commercials for the first time. I found it much more enjoyable than before. If you have only seen the obnoxious commercial broadcast version, I recommend renting the pure version--I have seen it at the video store. (I also saw the new Rebecca at the same store, but no P&P2 ;-( .)

I liked many of the secondary characters better than in Emma2, except Miss Bates--Sophie was perfect in Emma2. Though I still prefer Knightley and Emma from Emma2. I thought the script for the secondary characters was better in Emma3, but the script for K and E was better for Emma2. The "badly done" lines stand out--that was the big-gun and Davies over-used it, badly. I still object to the harshness of Strong's Knightley; though, he did come off a bit softer the second time.

I liked the Elton character better in Emma3. In Emma2 he was a slime ball, and I did not believe he actually was ever in love with Emma. She was just a prize that he deserved because he payed her the proper compliments and said the right things. In Emma3, he actually seemed to be attached, which would better explain why he immediately went out and married someone else--more was hurt than just his pride.

I think I prefer both Mrs. Weston and Mr. Woodhouse in Emma2, but it is a close call. Frank and Jane were both better in Emma3.
