I know there are books available which attempts to type characters in fiction, but I have not seen them. I used intuition and these quotes from Keirsey-Bates to make a guess at Emma's and Mr. Knightley's personality types.
1)"While ENFPs are briliantly perceptive, they can make serious mistakes in jusgment which owrks to their discomfort. These mistakes derive from their tendency to focus on data which confirm their own biases. They may be absolutely correct in their perceptions but wrong in their conclusions.. . . They can become bored rather quickly with both situations and people, and resist repeating experiences. . . . They are not likely to be interested in the less-inspired routines of daily maintenance and ever will be seeking new outlets for their inspirations."
2)"ISTJs are characterized by decisiveness in practical affairs and are the guardians of time-honored institutions, and if only one adjective could be selected, dependable would best describe this type . . .extrardinarily persevering and dependable. . .distate for and distrust of fanciness in speech, dress or home. The ostentacious is abohored, and the neat, orderly, and functional home and work environment is preferred."
There is much more, but I don't wish to write a paper. My source is "Please Understand Me" by Kiersey and Bates and can be found in the self-help section of Barnes and Nobles.
