Jane Austen Month?

Why are there so many Jane Austen movies being shown in October? I have already missed P&P and Northanger Abbey (much to my disappointment!), but I'm planning
to tape Emma and Persuasion (in addition to Jane Eyre) this Sunday. Was Jane born in October, or is this just a reaction to the Jane Mania that has swept the world lately?

Keep in mind, I spent the past four years in college, and had no time to watch TV! Have I just been out of it, or what?
