Even though my name is Lydia, I would honestly prefer Mr. Bennett as a father (provided that I did not have to see very much of MRS. Bennett!) over Mr. Woodhouse. I commend Emma for her infinite patience in dealing with her father, but I don't think I could manage the same patience and cheerfulness faced with constant worrying and nervousness. Mr. Bennett, on the other hand, only worries on very rare occasions, and as for his commentary...if I can't handle a few clever comments, I don't deserve to be in college!!
