A Bonehead

Well I am resigned to the fact that this question will reveal what an absolute bonehead I must be. But, I fear that I am too much like Harriet and "puzzled over the paper" when it came to the riddle from Mr. Elton.
Did anyone else understand and was therefore "mistress of the lines" as readily as Emma? I am not nearly so bad with modern riddles, but alas I fear it may be "dullness"!
