In response to Emma's Knightley (Mark Strong, I believe, is his real name), written by Monique on October 06, 1997 at 08:23:49
] Hello, Sari.
] Although I enjoyed both Emma-2 and Emma-3, I must say I prefer Emma-3. I think it's a little truer to the book, which I'm sure you'll enjoy.
] As for Emma-3's Knightley being "totally ugly", I could not disagree with you more. Although he is not "very pretty" or as attractive as Emma-2's Knightley, he is much more believable because he looks and acts like a man in his mid-to-late thirties. The actor (as Knightley, because I've not seen him in anything else - guess I'm living in the wrong country!) is definitely attractive - he's manly, he carries himself well, he has a serious and handsome face, and he is not a guy I would say no to if he asked me on a date. He seems to me a very good Knightley.
] All said.

] ] I've always loved P&P, especially when I saw A&E's production, and S&S was really good too, but I never really got around to seeing "Emma" until only last week.
] ] Oh, by the way I watched the old BBC version awhile after to compare, and I loved the newer version better (Knightly is totally ugly in the BBC one) but I did find things more clearer and explained more in the older one. Like about Frank Churchill and Jane Fairfax's relationship.

Which BBC Emma are you guys discussing, the really old one where Mr. Knightly looks about 50, or the recent one, where he's played very well by Mark Strong?
Thanks, Lizzie
