The Mr. Frank Churchils

Hello, I've been over at the P&P board for about a month now but also have been enjoying your Emma board.
I have the impression that the Emma with G. Paltrow (sorry, I don't have the numbers down yet) is the preferred Emma. For a few reasons, I have to say I prefer the Emma which aired on A&E.
I have to agree with another post that while (very) nice to look at the Mr. Knightly with G.P. is so nice to look at how could Emma have possibly not noticed him before? The other Mr. Knightly while not a "baberaham lincoln", was more appropriate for the part. He is the type where one's affection for him might creep up on you rather than hit you like a train (as in the case of Mr. Northram).
Also, the "Frank Churchills" in both movies, don't even begin to compare, for me. The "Frank" with G.P. made me think of a 13 year old boy wearing his father's clothes. I did not find him impressive, capable of such intrigues or inspiring any passions at all. Now the other "Frank", seemed much more appropriate for the roll. He was much more "manly" and yet maybe not too manly, so as to undertake such a ploy. (Handsome enough for Jane to undertake such a ploy also)
So, anyway, these are my musings. Sorry, I'm sure this has all been discussed before. I really enjoy reading Emma. For some reason I've tended to underestimate it each time I've read it (only twice), and always enjoy it very much.
