] You know, I'd have a tough time helping you with that
] because I think it's so OBVIOUS that JA's work is great!
] I'd wonder why someone needed to have it made fun because
] it already is! Then again, I remember that I learned to
] love JA because my high school English teacher loved her
] so passionately. He had such a great delight in her wit
] and would spend a lot of time making the period real to
] us so we could appreciate what was really being said. I
] would think (and I'm not an expert at all) that if you
] wanted to make JA fun for high schoolers that you would
] start with her truly wicked humor -- making sure they
] concentrate on undrestanding the language -- and then go
] on from there.
] But that's just me. Let us know what you come up with?
When I was in high school, BWTCOTEWC, I was assigned P&P.
The teacher defined various kinds of humor, and had us search for examples of each kind in P&P. It really helped me see how terrifically funny it was. I've loved the book
ever since. So I agree with Betsy, the humor is a terrific entry point.
