] Come on, folks!!!! We need something to DISCUSS here! This is one of my favourite boards, but there seems to be very little to nothing new on it! I admit myself to be completely dry of ideas for discussion topics, but has anyone else got anything? ANYTHING?!?!? Even topics we talked about ages and ages ago could be interesting to bring up again. Opinions and ideas could've changed...

] Please help!!!

Ok, here goes:
I read somewhere (of course I can't remember where!) that while both Emma and Lizzy were clever, Emma was more motivated to better herself (as regards her education). Lizzy would be more likely to pick up a novel (though not one of those silly gothic things!), but Emma would be more inclined to try and read something in a foreign language, or non-fiction about a new topic.
I was a little puzzled when reading this, as the impression I got was, while not exactly the opposite, certainly different. I see Emma as being rather lax in her education, unless it can win her approbation from everyone (such as her drawing or her music), and certainly having almost all of her time caught up with managing everything and everybody around her. Lizzy I could more readily see applying herself to learning something new, even though she never had the benefit of a governess.
Any thoughts on this? (sorry for the long post) ;)
Lizzie
