] I'm new here, so I'm not sure if this hasn't been discussed before in some detail, but I'm rather discouraged that there doesn't seem to be a "definitive" video adaption of Emma in terms of faithfulness to the text, historical accuracy, and casting (as I consider P&P2 to be). I've been amusing myself by trying to imagine the best features of the current Emma adaptions in one production. Any thoughts, or has this been done before in here?

I've never seen Emma1, but IMHO, Emma2 and Emma3 both have good parts and cover different aspects of the book. Emma2 has a very light and humorous (except for the "Badly done" scene) feel, while Emma3 seems to be altogether darker, focusing on the negative aspects of the book, and ignoring the light thread of sarcasm that runs through the book.
(BTW, Emma2 is the (GP/JN) version and Emma3 is the (KB/MS) version)
