] ] I think that her performance was in sync with the whole tone of this adaptation.
] It's true that she fit in with the tone of the movie, in general, I hated the movie. It's the only JA adaptation that I turned off before the end. BBC verison was much more enjoyable, and believable
I enjoyed both, albeit on different levels. I can appreciate good comedic or dramatic performances, or design, even if I don't like the script and/or the direction (and vice versa).
As far as believability, I agree with you. And I think that part of the problem is length. You just can't do justice to a complex author's work in a two-hour feature film. The only exception I can think of right now is A Room With a View, but even there, well, the book was better. Isn't it always?
