Weather is another kind of setting. I particularly enjoy the way that Emma's spirits, affected by the summer rains, change for the better with the returning sunshine. And just in time for her to hear what Mr. Knightley has to say upon returning from London!
This is good, Tom...think also in terms of night and day, light and dark. For example, the Elton turmoil takes place on a dark (as well as snowy) night...
