] Precisely WHAT is the envious point??


I've always thought that he envied the fact that Frank Churchill had won the woman he loved (Jane Fairfax) and was soon to be married to her, and perhaps, that it came so quickly and easily to him. Since at that point he did not know that Emma loved him, it is not surprising that he was jealous of Frank's good fortune.
