The Envious Point

I think Mr. Knightly is envious of Frank Churchill, not as a result love for Harriet, but rather as a result of his (Mr. Knightly's) love for Emma. Emma had given the impression that she loved Frank, though she later found that she really did not. This show of "affection" (though false)I believe is that which Mr. Knightly is referring to.

I surely wouldn't say that this is the absolute truth, but this is how I interpreted it. I hope that helps! :-)
