] Please refrain from calling me, or any other woman for that matter, a "babe."
I can't believe this. Sweetie, this is how I speak - it's called vernacular vocabulary. And as I am a woman myself, I see no problem with using the word "Babe" as such. But if it pains you so much, I'll refrain from using it.
No, I can't understand why you'd be upset since I didn't flippantly accuse the royal "you" of anything.
I won't even start about your direct attack on me, as Kathy puts it, as "the bad guy." If you want to win friends and influence people, don't jump down their throats the first chance you get.
Apparently, you didn't read my apology in one of the thread branches above. Now I'm wondering if I should have attempted it. And you did accuse US - the posters of this board, and IMPLICITLY myself (you mentioned above that your reply to Peggy was made in part becuase of MY post regarding proper quotations from the novel!) - of having a strong anti-adaptation bias. What else can the misconstruction of one posting (Peggy's) indicate? In directing your comments to a plurality of "anti-adaptation" sentiments, you seemed to be invalidating not only Kathy's, Peggy's and my own sentiments in favor of the superiority of the book, but of all who have and will (and this is nearly everyone) declared the book supreme and all adaptations no better than admirable attempts at capturing the truth of the novel.
Unless *you* are one of those anti-adaptations individuals, I wasn't talking to you, was I? Good God... why on earth should you feel the need to get defensive if the above statement doesn't apply to you?
Again, you should have been clearer and more politic in your assumptions. Again, I am sorry if I misunderstood you, but your post, I maintain, was unfairly and innacurrately waged. And it royally pissed me off.
