...I did not like Mark Strong as Knightley. Knightley is 37, not 50!
... JN was too young by three years, because he was 34 when the film was made. But three years underage was better than 13 years overage.
] I have to admit that when I go to the movies, I like to see attractive people. When I was reading the book, I pictured Mr. Knightley as being very handsome. In Emma3, I cracked up during the ball scene, when Mr. K's "tall, upright figure, among the...bulky figures," ect. was supposed to be shown off- MS doesn't look much better than the older men! Balding, pale, and sallow is not Mr. K.
I'm having a hard time believing that anyone could think Mark Strong looks 50 years old! He looks just about the right age, IMHO. He's not bald, he has a receding hairline, something which many men in their 20's are already suffering from. It is NOT a sign of advanced age! I can only suppose that you must be quite young, Peggy, to think that MS looks too old. I must admit, the more I watch Emma3, the more attractive I find MS. Given the more somber mood of Emma3, he is the perfect Mr. Knightley.
