On Thursday I watched "Clueless" for the third time and I was struck, yet again, by what a fine job Amy Heckering did in updating the story. High school is one of the few times we live in each others' pocket the way they did in JA's time. Also, even though Cher gives us a running commentary on her thoughts, Dionne lets us see how seriously Cher takes it all and gives us a reason not to trust Cher's judgement. Dionne is the embodiment of the authorial voice, even if her boyfriend is very silly.
