] I think I missed the real John even more than I missed the whole Frank and Jane fiasco in Emma2.

I missed John, too in Emma2. I didn't really get a sense of John's impishness and contrariness until I saw Emma3. I had previously thought that John was mostly petulant and crabby, but on this reading of the book, his sense of fun really jumped out at me. Wish they would have given him more airtime in Emma2.
