] Don't you think that your being bugged is due to the fact that our views on marriage, etc., now are so different than they were then? I don't think it was at all unusual for older men to marry very young women then.

I've often wondered about the physiological implications of earlier marriage in those days. Although women tended to marry younger than we do now, due to nutritional standards and other factors, they reached puberty at a later age than we do. So, it seems as though these young brides were even more "childlike" than we would like to think. Hmm.
