And C) taking her up to town for the season, once her dear old Dad departs after, what is it, two years or so? That sounds dreadful, but really I think her father was confining her as much as anything. Can you see him letting her go off to visit her sister for an extended stay, leaving him to boredom and the vagaries of suspect cooking?
