] "Faultless in spite of all her faults" has always been one of my favorite lines. Do you think Mr. Knightley loved Emma in spite of or because of her faults? I believe it's a combination of both.
Both--I think he focuses on her goodness, but he knows very well that the not-so-good qualities are there. His knowing she's not perfect only makes him love her all the more. I like this similar quote very much:
"What an amiable creature I was!--No wonder you should hold
my speeches in such affectionate remembrance."
