I think that, eventually, Knightley would propose, but what do you all think it would be like for them before he does?
"The torture, I assure you, would be acute." Thus, I doubt that Knightley would be able to make his daily visits to Hartfield. Preferring, instead, to maintain a safe distance. Once acknowledging (to himself) his love for Emma and realizing that he desires to marry her, maybe absence will make the (Emma's) heart grow fonder?
