] I have been watching Emma3 and Emma´s faults become crystal clear in the first part. It`s actually hard to like her...but I do somehow.
I must concur. I've always had the hardest time liking Emma, especially in contrast with Elizabeth Bennet, Anne Elliot, and horror of horrors, even Fanny Price! (but that is another argument entirely.)
A friend of mine (to whom I heartily recommended visiting Pemberley upon the acquisition of a new modem) said she preferred Kate Beckinsale's Emma. She believes that being stuck in Higbury with all her intelligence and lack of decent companionship has caused such boredom as to actually incite this kind of well-meaning mischief! I haven't seen it, but apparently KB communicated this better than GP ever did. I had never thought of her this way and am determined to finish the group read with this in mind. Am I the only one who never thought of this?
