Gwenyth is gracious, but way too bony and blonde; Harriet is merely a parody (a funny one, but not what Austen had in mind); and a lot of the upper-class spoofing brings in more Victorian ideas (like the servants toting all that furniture around for them out of doors). On the other hand, Mrs. Elton was fabulous, and the story had more momentum than Emma3, to my mind.

HARRIET! You`re definitely right. Harriet in Emma2 has no dimension whatsoever as a character, she`s a perfect cartoon. Samantha Morton, on the other hand, made Harriet perfectly believable in Emma3. Definite plus point! But I also loved Juliet Stevenson as Mrs Elton, probably a bit better and more subtle than the other Mrs Elton, in my opinion.
