] I think what it boils down to is that Emma's overriding fault is an ironclad self-satisfaction. This unforgivable sureness is what makes her so pleasant when she's getting her own way, and so much in denial about being wrong about anything.

] I think that's why she has to be so wrong about everything, before she can become a fit person to live with and deserving of Knightley.

Good point. I know some people like that IRL--always right, even when proven wrong. (I'm like that sometimes, too, I know.) ;-P
