] That was the 1980 version done by the BBC, with Elizabeth Garvie and David Rintoul. It's been resurrected for Masterpiece Theatre at least twice...I saw it on PBS in 1985.

This was, in my opinion, an excellent version of P&P. David Rintoul is, I think, better than Colin Firth in the role of Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth Garvie was superb as Elizabeth Bennet. The casting was great all around (Mr Collins is to die for and Jane is actually pretty). You can rent this at some video places (look in classics) or it can easily be ordered. It's really worth watching.
