"With all dear Emma's little faults, she is an excellent creature...where shall we see a better daughter, or a kinder sister, or a truer friend...she will make no lasting blunder [there's that word again!]; where Emma errs once, she is in the right a hundred times..."
Sure, she has her moments, but she's no cockey, haughty witch. In fact, very few people - notably Mr. K and John - understand the potential evil in what others see as charming and harmless. And even Mr. Knightley underestimates Emma, in thinking her able to fall into Frank's hole completely.
