Walcot Church

The new Bath guide (1789) printed by R. Cruthwell for W. Taylor

The parish Church of Walcot stands within the liberties of this city; it was rebuilt in the year 1780 and is a very neat, but very small church, compared with the largeness and populousness of the parish; it has a neat organ, but no peal of bells. The rectory is equal to the consolidated churches in Bath; the present incumbent is the Rev Mr Sibley the curate the Rev Mr Dowson.

Quotations
 Chapter 7
“Hot! He had not turned a hair till we came to Walcot Church; but look at his forehand; look at his loins; only see how he moves; that horse cannot go less than ten miles an hour: tie his legs and he will get on. What do you think of my gig, Miss Morland?
