...to Mary Anne, who recently recommended the 1963 film starring Julie Harris, Claire Bloom, Richard Johnson and Russ Tamblyn. It was everything she said it was: creepy, atmospheric horror...without a drop of blood.
Plot: A professor doing psychic research to prove the existence of ghosts, investigates a large, eerie mansion that has a lurid history, accompanied by a group with links to the paranormal.
I made a point of watching it in the afternoon, to put as much time space between seeing it and bedtime.
This supernatural thriller managed to scare me without blood or gore. Beautifully photographed in black and white, the movie terrorizes you with suggestion and unique camera angles which give the house a creepy and sinister appearance and feel.
It's on Netflix, for anyone interested.
